During her 46 years in Alaska, your hostess, Nancy Wilson, has enjoyed homesteading, flying, fishing, hunting, gardening, and entertaining people from all over the world as her guests. Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, Nancy followed her pilot husband (as a young bride) to his family's gold mine in rural Alaska. As a wife and mother, she spent most of her time on the family's remote Gold Creek homestead. Nancy earned her pilot license in the early 70's. The Wilson's private airstrip was base for their Super Club and the only other access to the log cabin was by Alaska Railroad. The cabin home was a cozy place in the wilderness heated by a wood stove, outfitted with handmade quilts and lit by oil lamps. The yard was full of wild berries and edible plants. The summer garden provided vegetables for the family and browsing for moose. Bears, moose, caribou, fox and wolves were at the door. The natural beauty of Alaska was inspiration for oil paintings and quilts made by Nancy. She still enjoys the "Last Frontier" and its rich local history.

Now a full time Talkeetna area resident, Nancy welcomes visitors to her neck of the woods, a short distance from the historic downtown. Her charming private log cabin is complete with modern bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, two sleeping areas and a loft bedroom. There is also a private guest suite attached to the main residence. Guests enjoy satellite TV and the outdoor gas grill in the picnic area. Sunshine Lake B & B is located in a white birch wood near the Talkeetna Spur Road and is adjacent to a 14 mile long paved jogging/hiking/ski trail. Sunshine Lake is near with loons & wildlife. Summer visitors enjoy world-class fishing in the neighborhood lakes and streams. Open year round, there is easy access to the many local snow machine and ski trails just across the road. Nancy would love to help you plan an Alaskan adventure vacation.
